The institute „Gestaltung und Wirkungsforschung“ (IGW) of the Vienna University of Technology deals with interdisciplinary research in informatics incorporating socio-scientific theories and methods.
The institute’s research areas are methods of multidisciplinary systems design; design and development of information- and multiagent-systems with special focus on multimedia, cooperative work-environment as well as hyper-textual knowledge-transfer; design and utilization of electronic rooms for various domains and players, especially in the fields of art, architecture and new media; for more than 10 years the IGW has been conducting research, development and education in the area of game design.
